Welcome to the Seychelles Islands
Located off the west coast of Africa and the northern tip
of Madagascar; the islands consist of 43 inner islands; 41 which are granitic and 2 which are coralline; and 72 coralline
outer islands. There are The 3 main islands Mahé, Praslin and La Digue are located within the inner islands.
The inner islands cluster around the three main islands
contributing to the cultural and economic society of the islands.
The main island, which is also the largest of them all,
is the island of Mahé which is known as the international gateway to Seychelles.
Mahé holds the islands capital Victoria and has 1000m of granite peaks.
The island of Mahé also holds rare plants that are found nowhere else in the world.
An outer island named Alphonse is one of the smallest of them all barely
1.2km wide and completely surrounded in coral reef. The island was developed around the coconut industry and is mined for
guano which is decomposed bird droppings.
